DIY KITS
DIY Kits are just that—do it yourself programs designed for leaders/advisors! We’ve done the research and prep work for you, so it’s easier to do the program with your troop! The kits are great for troop meetings, camping trips, outdoor hikes, or simply to supplement other activities. All activities are simply a "jumping off point" and are meant to be used in a flexible manner. Your girls’ interests will determine exactly how each DIY kit is used. Kits come complete with all the equipment and expensive or hard-to-find materials a troop needs to do the activities — you supply things like glue, markers, scissors and paper. To reserve a DIY Kit, contact the West Region Service Center. They can be checked out for up to three weeks, which allows time for previewing and pre-planning with the girls.

Zink The Zebra (All Levels)
Have you ever seen a zebra with spots instead of stripes? Zink is the little zebra who looks a bit different from the other zebras in the jungle. Zink’s story is one of acceptance, understanding, and learning about individual differences. The story of Zink was created by a Girl Scout named Kelly Weil who died of cancer in 1993. While fighting this disease and living with the physical changes that accompanied her treatment, she didn’t want to be treated any differently by her friends. Kelly expressed her feelings of exclusion through the character of Zink, the spotted Zebra. After her death at age eleven, her father published the story Kelly had written and created a foundation in her memory. This Zink Kit teaches lessons through activities, games, crafts, and more.
